Frequently  Asked  Questions

"What do I need to have a Fireworks Show?"

If you have a CLUB such as the Stumptown Shooters put on a show for you, the CLUB needs the appropriate permits and Certifications. You would simply "bankroll" the show. STS will provide all of the needed equipment, storage/transportation, personnel, permits, show design, fencing, crowd control (we may also ask for help from you as the SPONSOR of such a show), communications system, sound system (if needed) and (seemingly) a hundred other necessities.

Unlike a "For-Profit" COMPANY, we do this stuff for fun and NOT for-profit. We like to get creative and do unique, one-of-a-kind-never-seen-before shows. As we are a small club, we are limited to the number of shows we can do each year. We are always willing to see what we can do though!

(AND THAT'S ABOUT AS CLOSE TO AN "ADVERTISEMENT" YOU WILL

EVER SEE FROM THE STUMPTOWN SHOOTERS!)

If you purchase a show directly from a COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTOR or COMPANY such as
J & M Displays, S&N Displays, Central States Fireworks, Flashing Thunder or Schneitter's and that COMPANY is hired to shoot your display, then there are no additional requirements of  you either. You are (as in the case of one of our club shows) guaranteed a great time and can "kick back and relax".

In both these case, you are the SPONSOR of such a show and do not have to have any permit other than the Locally Obtained Permit for Fireworks Display. These may be obtained by the Local Authority in which the display is to be held (ie: CITY, COUNTY or STATE Government). (In the case of one of our Stumptown shows, WE OBTAIN THE PERMITS IN MOST CASES.

If you purchase and shoot your show as a Federal or State political entity (ie: a City, Town, Municipal Fire Department, Municipal Police Department, etc.) then there are no big changes this year. The laws enforced by the BATF has always held Governing Entities EXEMPT from these requirements due to their Sovereignty . (You still must have the proper storage for the Pyrotechnic Devices!)

If you shoot your own show and are not a Federal or State political entity (ie: a City, Town, Municipal Fire Department, Municipal Police Department, etc.) then you will need a Federal Permit.

IF YOU NEED A FEDERAL PERMIT WE RECOMMEND CALLING THE BATF AT:

 404-417-2750
