The Fireworks Foundation Chemical Defense Fund needs ! For those of you unaware of the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) action
threatening the entire Pyrotechnics Community. This action not only violates core Civil Rights
of Hobby Fireworks Builders but threatens all Pyro-based activities, and could ultimately lead
to the demise of all Fireworks Sales & all Fireworks Displays.

Better Still, PLEASE
Our 2007 Annual New Years Eve Shows (at 8:30pm featuring THE MAIN EVENT), was in a word COLD!
For the first time ever, we had to cancel the traditional Midnight Show however.
Still, over 200 "Stumpies" braved the Iowa Winters night to help us ring in the New Year the Stumptown way.
Despite the bitter cold that evening, we all enjoyed our common love and staged one of the best ever STS NYE shows using a Computer Controlled firing panel to shoot over 2,000 devices and effect, several of our home-made candle barrages and dozens of cakes.
As always, we had folks from near and far.
This year's fully Choreographed Show was a little over 29 minutes in length.
The Main Show itself was one of our best yet. This was not the largest show we have ever done in Stumptown but one heck of a nice one nonetheless. For Information on
this year's Upcoming 2008 Shoot ===> A News article from 2004 about our New Years Eve Show can be found on our
"DOCUMENTS" Page ( or )

show can be viewed by clicking here ===> The video from the 2007 show will be uploaded for viewing SOON!

!!! NOTE: NEW DATE !!!
July 19, 2008 - Kasper Family Annual Father's Day Shoot 2008 -
(Originally scheduled for June 15 - moved to July due to flooding.)
Club Member and Life-long Pyro Devotee, Duane Kasper upholds a long-standing Kasper Family Tradition in staging this show.
While growing up with fireworks as a part of your life is a wonderful thing, the Kasper's have made it also a traditional thing.
This is Duane "Doctor Wheels" Kasper's "BABY!". Planning begins for next year's show right after the last of the cleanup is completed.
Each show is meticulously planned as the highlight event of the Kasper Family's Annual reunion which is graciously hosted by and held at Glenn & Pat Kasper Farm outside Iowa City each year.
Stumptown members are honored to be a part of this great show and all of the Kasper clan treats us like family too.
This show is not just anticipated by the family and the club. Over the years, the surrounding area residents and "Stumpies" pack the surrounding roadways to watch and add their own "Oohs! and Awes".
If you just happen to be near the vicinity of 360th Street and Kansas Avenue, SW just north the IWV Road west of the Iowa City Garbage Dump (excuse me, I mean the Iowa City Municipal Sanitary Waste Disposal Facility!), stop the car and tune your radio to somewhere in the 92.1 to 93.7 range, you can listen in as the Show goes "UP!"
GOING ON AS PLANNED!
DESPITE THE FLOODING!
WILL BE HELD THE LAST WEEK
OF JUNE (June 28 - 2008)
June 28th, 2008 - TREK FEST 2008 - Our Club Fund-Raiser is held the last Saturday in June and draws from 450-700 people each year.
In 2004, this was held in Riverside, IA in conjunction with the Annual "Trek Fest" Celebration.
The theme was (and is of course) based on the Star Trek Original TV Series and features a custom soundtrack based on the entire series.
We began the 2004 show with the USS Enterprise (done as a Lance Piece) in a simulated battle with a Klingon Battle Cruiser (Lance Piece) and Boldly went where "No Pyro Had Gone Before!"
The 2004 Show was so very well received by all and the Club has been asked back by R.A.C.C (the Riverside Area Community Club) to move this show to Riverside annually to celebrate this VERY special day at the Future Home of Captain James T. Kirk.
In 2005, the intrepid Enterprise and her crew took on the "Doomsday Device" in a recreation of that classic Episode of the Star Trek OS.
In 2006, we took the audience on a Nostalgic Journey "Back in Time" to the roots of the Star Trek Saga and "Introduced" the Prequel Show "Enterprise" into our Annual Homage to the Late/Great Gene Roddenberry and his vision for our future.
In 2007, we went back to the "Roots" and did yet another all- new "Opener" based on another well-known OS Episode.
Our 2008 Show will also be one NOT to miss!

July 4th, 2007 - 4th of July Shoot in Maryville, MO. at Lake Mozingo.
Maryville, MO is a mid-size town in the Northeast sector of the state with a 1,000 acre man-made lake which is owned by the town. It serves as a wonderful recreational site for residents and visitors alike.
Whether you want to take a dip, ski or try your luck at making that magical "BIG catch", this is a great place to do it.
The Stumptown Shooters setup the show on a 1,500 ft long earth dam on the opposite shore from the Beach and Picnic Shelters providing the crowd with a great over-water show. Boaters get a "perfect" seat.
It's a 30 minute 4th of July Celebration done in grand style!
UPDATE! From our 2005 Maryville Shoot. Which,
went very -- Well with just a couple
of "small" glitches.
One "small" glitch was a 16" Willow that blew
in the tube. Giving us a glimpse of what a volcano
looks like from a distance!
Amazingly both the tube ("Betty") and the sandbox
it was buried in survived the blast.

July 24th, 2008 - Johnson County 4H/FFA Fair
The Stumptown Shooters had the honor of being the only group to ever stage a fireworks show at the Johnson County 4H/FFA Fair in it's 50+ year history.
In 2001, then Fairboard President, Mr. Richard Gay mentioned to a Stumptown Club Member that they were looking for something memorable to celebrate the "new" Johnson County Fairground's 50th Anniversary which coincided with the 4H Clubs of America's 100th Anniversary.
He (of course) suggested a fireworks show, Richard's eyes lit up and so did the night sky that year. Shot from "Indian Lookout Hill" which adjoins and overlooks the Fairgrounds, it is one of the highest vantage points in the county. With a 130' Height advantage over the surrounding valley and there's hardly a spot for 20 miles the show can not be seen from.
Since that 1st show in 2001, we have been made an "Annual Event" and will be doing our 7th Show there this year.
The Theme for 2008 is "LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL" and we Intend to do JUST THAT!

In 2005, the Kick-Off Show for the Annual PGII Convention was staged by members of the Iowa Pyrotechnic Association.
The Members of the Stumptown Shooters are proud to have helped (as Iowa Pyrotechnic Association Members) to Design/Plan, Build Product, Setup & Shoot the 2005 IPA show.
IPA members worked on this show for over a year and put our all into it. It turned out very well.
We invite all of you to watch it here on-line.
It showcased products from fireworks vendors and manufacturers from around the world and one of the 8 songs in the soundtrack featured 100% IPA Hand-Made Product.
Our choreography theme was based on Mason Citys dual claim to fame arising from early Rock & Roll and Mason City born Meredith Willsons world acclaimed Musical Masterpiece The Music Man.
From Phil Collins' "Welcome Song" from the Movie Soundtrack "Brother Bear", into Wynonna Judd's GREAT Creamora (Fireball Effect) song "Burnin' Love" from the "Lilo & Stitch" Soundtrack
We then continued our trip down 50's Rock and Roll Memory Lane with a trio of songs from "The Big Bopper", Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly, then continued back through time to 1900's turn-of-the-century "River City, Iowa" and the wonderful music of a true Broadway classic at it's finest!
All of the Members of the IPA helped make a great impression on our peers from around the world that made them want to bring this International Convention back to Iowa again (and again).

August 23rd, 2008 - Lone Tree Fall Fun Days - Lone Tree, IA
Fall Fun Days is a Community Sponsored Annual Event that has become one of our Club's "Regulars".
It's always a fun time and this year will be no exception.
Last Year (2006) - We helped the RC Model Plane Club by Staging a MOCK AIR TO GROUND ATTACKS USING SPECIAL EFFECT PYROTECHNICS!
Very Cool! Very Fun Stuff!
We shot Strafing Runs, Simulated Napalm Drops and More! We have not committed to do this again but no mater what - Come on Out and Watch the Fun!
The Shoot Site is on a hill, just one block from the Main Stage in Downtown Lone Tree so there's not a bad seat in the "house".
Come on and join in the Fun! We shoot the Event "Capper" in Lone Tree, Iowa at 10pm Saturday, August 23rd, 2008
October 4th, 2008 - Stumptown Shooters Annual Fall Picnic Shoot
Held in River Junction at Gene & Connie's (Click for MAP)
This is a semi-private end-of-the-busy-season-we-need-a-short-break B.Y.O.P (bring your own Pyro) type of event.
We say semi-private because this one is "only" open to STS Club Members and family, friends of the club, anyone who have helped with shows, anyone who has helped with our facilities, donated to the club, our Vendors and their Employees, Fellow IPA Members and Pyros et-al.
(Did we forget anyone?)
Stumptown Members: There will be one of our infamous and sporadic "Meetings" held early (starting at 9:30am).
We have a lot of new stuff to discuss and plans to make for the coming year.
In keeping with tradition and in case any of you were wondering, if you have helped with any of our shows, you are now a "member" (that's about as close as it ever gets to 'filling out a membership application"!)
Please make it there as early as possible so we can move on to bigger and better things early in the day!
Everyone - Please come on over to Stumptown's World HQ and enjoy the day with us all!
TBA 2008 - Iowa Pyrotechnic Association Annual Fall Picnic Shoot
Vinton Iowa at the Benton County Fairgrounds
(Opens to the Public at Noon)
2007 Marked the inaugural event and the IPA did things in grand style as Pyros from
all across Iowa, members from Illinois, Minnesota and other surrounding states
converged on the small (and unsuspecting) town of Vinton, Iowa.
This show was one to be remembered!
Co-sponsored by the IPA and the City of Vinton, this event was called
"Boomtown Vinton: TNT on 218"
It featured activities like a Farmer's Market, Live Music from Five Area Bands, a Beer
Tent (our IPA shooters went there only AFTER we were done shooting of course!),
Local Vendors and of course plenty of Fireworks from the IPA Membership and a
Choreographed show after the Builder's Demo.
This was a Membership Drive for the IPA which we have turned into an annual event.
If you are an IPA Member, please come out and play.
If you are NOT an IPA Member - 2008 is the time to join!
With the current wave of Governmental and private organizations trying to end our
hobby, the only answer to the fight we have is through sheer numbers of hobbyists
standing together and through the good will and Public support that positive publicity
events like these garner.
Please try to make the next one and show your support for the Hobbyist Pyro cause.
We are pleased to host the video of this show here on our site. We invite you to view it
to get a feel for what you missed last year and urge you to make plans to attend this
coming September.
The 2008 event will be held on September 20, 2008 at the Benton County Fairgrounds
in Vinton, Iowa. Please plan to make a day of it and join us that evening for another
great Pyro Show!

Dick Mordaunt Memorial Fireworks Show
November 24th, 2007
Springville, IA
This is a Medium Quality Streaming Video Media Player File.
Presented in 16:9 Wide Screen Format
This show was a memorial send off of a member of the Stumptown "Family".
One of the last requests of one of our original "Stumpies", Mr. Richard Mordaunt
It was held at the family's home in Springville and represented a monumental effort to
put together a 'fast-track' show. Without the efforts of a huge number of people,
companies, local and county government and agencies, this show would not have been
possible. To all involved, our deepest thanks.
It was a choreographed show with 10 segments to the soundtrack.
We hope you enjoy it!
Running Time: 35 minutes
